Small business owners from across the state came to Topeka on March 6 for Small Business Day at the Capitol. The event was hosted by the Kansas office of NFIB in conjunction with the Topeka Independent Business Association and the Wichita Independent Business Association.

Speakers included Senate President Susan Wagle, House Speaker Ron Ryckman Jr., and House Majority Leader Dan Hawkins. Kevin Kuhlman, NFIB senior director of federal government relations, briefed Kansas members on legislation now before Congress.

NFIB’s state director for Kansas, Dan Murray, told WIBW-CBS 13 that the state’s small business community is concerned about the rising cost of health insurance, taxes, and burdensome regulations.

After the meeting, NFIB members toured the Kansas State Capitol and met with their local legislators.
