This Tuesday, the Kansas Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) will have its Emerging and Existing Small Business Award Ceremony.

The Kansas SBDC provides a variety of support tools for small businesses. The Emporia State University SBDC Director Lisa Brumbaugh talks about the organization.

The ESU SBDC award winners are both from Emporia. The emerging small business award goes to Ellen Plumb’s City Bookstore. Brumbaugh says the bookstore was selected because of its diversity of products and services offered, and due to the owner, Marcia Lawrence, self-funding the business’s opening.

The existing small business award was given to Floyd’s Inc. Auto Body and Repair. Brumbaugh discusses this selection.

The ceremony will begin on Tuesday at the Topeka Capital Rotunda. Both the House of Representatives and Senate will recognize these sixteen businesses from around the state.
Congratulations to Marcia Lawrence of Ellen Plumb’s and John and Ruth Wheeler of Floyd’s Inc. for their well-deserved awards.
