Java junkies, listen up.
Business.org is looking for someone to swap their Starbucks habit for their caffeine fix from a local coffee shop for one month. The gig pays $1,000.
Here’s what you have to do:
- Be a self-professed Starbucks addict
- Commit to visiting only local coffee shops for 30 days
- Visit at least eight locally owned shops and take a photo of your cup at each one
- Write a short summary of your experiences going local
- Be willing to share your experiences on social media
The company is offering the job as part of its Shop Local campaign to support small businesses, which also will include pizza and holiday challenges.
Business.org says 82 percent of businesses that fail cite a lack of cash flow, so encourage Americans to frequent local businesses and promoting the benefits of supporting local shops.
“Our team is comprised of small-business enthusiasts who are committed to supporting entrepreneurs. That’s why we decided to create the Business.org Pays You to Shop Local campaign to raise awareness for the importance of supporting local businesses. The first initiative in our campaign is set on finding someone who we’ll pay $1,000 to ditch Starbucks for a whole month and support local coffee shops in their community instead. The goals of this initiative are to inspire more people to opt for local coffee and gather firsthand insight into the differences between corporate coffee joints and smaller shops,” says Micah Pratt, manager of Business.org
If you want to apply, hurry! Applications are being accepted through Sept. 30. Business.org says you can make your application stand out by sending a video showing off your love of coffee and explaining why you’re ready to make a change.
