Brew ‘n Business
The Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce will host Brew ‘n Business, a roundtable discussion for business owners and professionals, from 7:30-9 a.m. Friday at the Woodstock Cafe.

Small business forum
Samuels Library will host a small business lending forum from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at 330 E. Criser Road, Front Royal.
The forum will provide participants with an overview of U.S. Small Business Administration and USDA/Rural Business Cooperative-Services financing programs and services. New artistic director
Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University has announced the appointment of Jeremy Blaustein as Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre’s new producing artistic director.
Blaustein, an award-winning actor, director and producer, is the third producing artistic director to lead the organization since its founding in 1984. He follows Professor Emeritus of Composition and Musical Theatre and Producing Artistic Director Thomas Albert and Founding Producing Artistic Director Harold Herman.
Blaustein is a Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award-nominated producer, whose Broadway credits include “Bonnie & Clyde,” “The Merchant of Venice” (with Al Pacino), “A Life in the Theatre” (with Patrick Stewart), “Race” (with James Spader and Kerry Washington), “Desire Under the Elms” (with Brian Dennehy), “Blithe Spirit” (with Angela Lansbury), “You’re Welcome America” (with Will Ferrell), “Speed-the-Plow” (with Jeremy Piven and William H. Macy), and “HAIR,” which also received a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Drama League Award and a Grammy Award.
Over the past several years, Blaustein has returned to his alma mater several times as an actor and director. In 2018, he directed Shenandoah Conservatory’s student production of “Noises Off,” and several productions, including “Ragtime” (2019), “Mamma Mia!” (2018), “Hairspray” (2017), and “The Pirates of Penzance” (2016). He also portrayed Seymour in SSMT’s 2016 production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”
The year’s season will feature “Hello Dolly!” (June 25-July 5), “Sister Act” (July 9-19) and “Cinderella” (July 23-Aug. 2). More information is available online at www.ssmtva.org.
Each year, DuPont Community Credit Union employees select a nonprofit to support through its Corporate Charity Campaign. This year, employees raised $10,993.05 to donate to the American Cancer Society. In addition to giving, employees also spent time volunteering at various ACS events including Relay for Life.
The Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up Committee awarded nearly $10,000 in grants in August to the following area nonprofit organizations:
• Families Reaching Out Group (Winchester): to purchase new underwear to help children in need through its program Froggy’s Closet.
• Choices of Page County: to help complete a rehabilitation project for parts of its emergency shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic and/or sexual violence.
• Page Alliance for Community Action: to help establish and promote the “Hidden in Plain Sight” program, which strives to educate parents and caregivers of the common indicators of unhealthy behavior in their child’s room.
• Faith in Action (Winchester): to pay for expenses related to providing free, door-to-door transportation for medical appointments and treatments.
Each year SVEC members voluntarily round up their monthly bills to the next even dollar, with funds accumulating in a pool of grant money. The next grant cycle is expected to be in January.
Schenck Foods Co. has expanded its area wholesale food distribution to include grocery pickup and delivery services.
The program launched in August to serve residents in ZIP code 22601 and by the end of August consumer feedback drove the expansion of services to include ZIP codes 22602, 22603, 22655 and 22656.
Grocery orders can be picked up by 5 p.m. or delivered to a home or office location by 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Product offerings include fresh produce, locally manufactured goods and allergy-friendly items. New items are being added every week with consumer input.
Delivery is available on orders of $50 or more for a delivery fee of $5. Orders can be placed online at www.shop.schenckfoods.com.
