Sept. 4: Employers are invited to participate in the Chico State University job fair. Details: 3 to 6 p.m. at Bell Memorial Union on campus. Cost: $100. Call the career center for employer information, 898-5253.

Sept. 10-17: “QuickBooks Online” will be offered by the Small Business Development Center at Butte College. Details: 8:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the center, 2480 Notre Dame Blvd., Chico. Cost: $50 prepaid or $60 at the door. Reservations: 895-9017 or www.buttecollegesbdc.com. Topics include introduction to QuickBooks Online, chart of accounts, products and services, vendors’ expensive, tracking, customer service and more. A live web-based test file provided by Intuit will be used. The trainer is a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and CPA. QuickBooks Online manual will be provided.

Sept. 20: Introduction to Online Marketing will be presented by Butte College Small Business Development Center. Details: 9 to 11 a.m. at the Gridley Herald, 650 Kentucky St. Gridley. Cost: free but must register. Reservations 895-9017 or www.buttecollegesbdc.com. The training introduces the beginning steps of online marketing, exploring marketing fundamentals and how the new platforms of exposure have changed the game. Covers how new technology shapes traditional marketing theory.

Sept. 25: Butte County Job Fair is planned by the Alliance for Workforce Development. Details: noon to 4 p.m. at Manzanita Place, 1705 Manzanita Ave. Free.

Sept. 26: “ServeSafe Food Safety Training and Certification” will be offered by the Small Business Development Center at Butte College. Details: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center, 2480 Notre Dame Blvd., Chico. Cost: $120 prepaid or $130 at the door includes textbook. $80 prepaid and $90 at the door without the books. Reservations: 895-9017 or www.buttecollegesbdc.com. State law requires retesting and recertification every five years. The course includes the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe exam, essentials, manual, test sheets and certificate.

Oct. 8-10: GrowTECH Fest gives a glimpse behind the start-up and investment process over several days and with local and away speakers and mentors. Organizers include GrowTECH, Butte College and Chicostart. Various locations. Cost ranges from $75 to $200. Students are free. For information, email tim@chicostart.com
