The Abilene Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for Small Business Awards to be presented at the chamber’s Salute to Small Business Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. May 7 at the 201 Mesquite Event Center. Award categories are New Business of the Year, Small Business Community Investment Award, Family Owned Business of the Year and Small Business Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

The Abilene Business Council of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce will conduct the 35th Business Expo from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 27 at the Abilene Convention Center, 1100 N. Sixth St. More than 220 exhibitors are expected to be present, and food trucks will be available.

First National Bank Albany/Breckenridge, which is based in Albany, will conduct a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for a new Abilene location at 5659 Buffalo Gap Road.
Texas Board of Legal Specialization inducts local attorneys
Three Abilene attorneys received board certification for specialty areas of law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization on March 1. They are: Britt Houston Lindsey, Criminal Appellate Law; April Renee Propst, Family Law; and Christine Paige Rankin, Child Welfare Law.
Anthony Mechanical Services named contractor of the year
Anthony Mechanical Services Inc., an HVAC services provider based in Lubbock, was named Linc Service’s 2018 Contractor of the Year at the ABM Franchising Group’s 2019 Continuing Education Conference held Feb. 7-9. The award was presented to the company’s Midland office, which also includes the company’s operations in Abilene and San Angelo.
The annual award is presented based on organizational performance in activity growth, sales performance, gross and operating profit, maintenance base growth and implementation of the Linc Service system.
Food manager training
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Taylor, Nolan and Jones counties will conduct a two-day professional food manager certification training course May 25 and 26 at the Taylor County Extension Office, 1982 Lytle Way. The course will include the Prometric food manager certification examination, with the certification valid for five years.
